NEXT ENTRY ^^

Assalamualaikum everyone ^^

Actually, this week I not attend  the lecture because I have other responsibilities to do at that time. I am sorry miss L huhu, but I already cover the topic that Miss Ummi explained in the lecture.  For this week, we have learnt about chapter 8 which is corporate strategy. 

From this chapter, we can understand when and how business diversification can enhance shareholder value. Besides that, we also can gain an understanding of how related diversification strategies can produce cross-business strategic fit capable of delivering competitive advantage.  After we learnt about this chapter, we can become aware of the merits and also risks of corporate strategies keyed to unrelated diversification.

  Moreover, we also can gain command of the analytical tools for evaluating a company’s diversification strategy. Last but not least, we can understand a diversified company ‘s  four main corporate strategy options for solidifying its diversification strategy and improving company performance.

In the tutorial class, with Madam Huda, we have discussed about a case study which is about piping hotdog. For me, it’s very interesting case study.  After completely read the case study, we need to proceed with TOWS analysis. Actually, we have prepared it before we come to the class. ^^

On that day, Madam Huda also shared to us about her experience when she and her friends ate KFC. For me, it’s a horrible and terrible experience! L huhu, very scary when Madam Huda said that her friends thought  that she ate a drumstick of a chicken.  Actually, she ate a rat that already covers by flour. Its seem like drumstick.. oh nooooo !

All in all, based on what Madam Huda shared, I can conclude that we always need to beware in choosing a food to eat ^^ J that’s all for this entry !

sharing session ^^

assalamualaikum everyone ^^
           This week, we have a sharing session from owner of O-shima, madam Asnidar Hanim Yusuf. From the session, we got many input and new knowledge from her. she shared about how she started the business. Actually, madam Asnidar possessed bachelor of engineering from a university in Japan. she has the same taste with her husband. They really love to eat japanese food. Thats why they decided to open Japanese Food Restaurant.

            Besides that, madam Asnidar also shared about her failure in business. actually, she has opened many branch around her place. unfortunately, she need to close some of the restaurant because of some reason. madam Asnidar advise us that we need to be positive all the time so that we can success in our last. its normal to fail, but we need to bound back ^^ insyaALLAH ;)

            There is some factor that make O-Shima Japanese different with other Japanese food is HALAL. Madam Asnidar will make sure that all the taw material is Halal before they use. for me, it is make them unique ^^

ENTRY 8 ( WEEK 7 )

Assalamualaikum readers ! fuhh fuhh, its already 7^th week lecture. For this week, I have learnt about STRATEGIES FOR COMPETING IN INTERNATIONAL MARKETS. I really enjoyed in this lecture. J Alhamdulillah !

Miss Ummi explained to all of us about the primary reason companies choose to compete in international markets. One of the reason is to gain access to new customer. If we choose to compete internationally, the company can find and get new customer from any other country around the world. The other reason is to achieve lower costs through economic scale, experience and increased purchasing power, to further exploit its core competencies, to gain access to resources and capabilities located in foreign market and to spread its business risks across a wider market base.

Moreover, this chapter also focuses on strategy option for expanding beyond domestic boundaries and competing in the markets of either a few or a great many countries. In the process of exploring these options, miss Ummi introduced and briefly explained about such concepts as multidomestic, transnational, and global strategies, the porter diamond of national competitive advantage and profit sanctuaries.

Okay, for tutorial class with madam Huda, Miss Ummi already uploaded case study in GOALS but madam huda decided to continue discuss about the previous case. In the class, we should give idea to make the SWOT and TOWS analysis. The class become interesting when most of us participate in completing the task. Alhamdulillah !

ENTRY 7 ( WEEK 6 )

Assalamualaikum everyone! how’s your day ? hopefully everything going to be okay J insyaALLAH. Now, we already enter into 6^th week lecture for this semester. This week, our beloved lecturer, Miss Ummi  gave lecture about chapter 6 which is about Strengthening a Company’s Competitive Position.

From this chapter, I can know about and learnt about whether and when to pursue opffensive and defensive strategic moves to improve a company’s market position. If we want to make a strategy, we should know the weakness of our rivals company. So, we can attack the rivals in the areas where they are weakest. It’s the best offensive strategy that we can use and apply in our company.  Apart from that, I also learnt about blue-ocean strategy. Blue-ocean strategy offers growth in revenues and profits by discovering or inventing new industry segments that create altogether new demand. For example, Starbucks Coffee is the first company that provide coffee that show wealth when drink coffee.

Okay, as usual, Wednesday morning we have tutorial class with madam Huda. My housemate and I came late to the class. I felt weird with my classmate, Ain Juraimi because usually she will smile and talk to me when I enter into the class but for today she did not do it. Then, I asked her, why ? no respond from her and she continue read the case study. Same goes to me. I took out my case study from bag and I read it.

Ohhh, after that I can knew about it. Its all our fault that made Madam Huda angry with us. We did not read the case study completely. L hmm, actually, Miss Ummi have uploaded a case study about “the Digital Age : Shall I tag along? . so, we must read it completely before enter the tutorial class.

In the tutorial class, we discussed about it. Madam Huda asked us about blue Ocean strategy and so on.  Then madam also asked us about the case. Ismul and Ain Juraimi gave their opinion how to improve the company achievement in publishing and madam accept it.

In summary, from this subject, I have learnt about many new strategy that we can apply in the future. InsyaALLAH. In whatever happened today, we should make it as a lesson so that we do not repeat the same mistake. And we should plan our life for a better future ! okay, that’s all from me. Assalamualaikum and hye everyone. Hopefully all of us always in good health J insyaALLAH. For this week. Miss Ummi asked us to post about generic strategies of some companies. Miss Ummi have post it in GOALS.

ENTRY 5 ( WEEK 4 )

Assalamualaikum  everyone. Hopefully, may Allah always spark His blessing on us. insyaAllah.:) as usual, I will share to all of you about what I have learnt in 4^th lecture for Strategic Management. This week, Miss Ummi explained about evaluating a company’s resources, capabilities and competitiveness. Alhamdulillah, I can learnt something new from the lecture :)

            From this topic,  miss Ummi explained about techniques for evaluating a company’s internal situation, including its collection of resources and capabilities and the activities its perform along its value  chain. Besides that, internal analysis enables managers to determine whether their strategy has appealing prospect for giving the company a significant competitive edge over rival firms.  For what I have understand from the lecture, the company should examine their competitive approach and also their rivals. Apart from that, the can build their own strategy to compete with their rivals and can improve market position.

Moreover, in this chapter, I also learnt about how to access the company’s strengths and weaknesses in light of market opportunities and internal factor. Actually, in matriculation, I have learnt about SWOT analysis but I don’t learn about TOWS analysis yet. So, today I have learnt something new. Besides, we also can use SWOT analysis for ourselves so that we can know our strength, weakness, opportunity and also threats in our life.  Apart from that, miss Ummi also explained about how company’s value chain activities can affect the company’s cost structure and customer proposition

.  

In tutorial class, Madam Huda asked us to make a presentation about our own restaurant if we have opportunities to open it one day. So, our group decided to open a restaurant that provide seafood dishes. Our restaurant is located at Giant Nilai. From the presentation, we can learn about how to manage our own restaurant and also as a manager we should know our rivals. Besides that, we also should know how to manage resources and capabilities to make sure that we can compete with our rivals. We got some new knowledge and some opinion from madam Huda. I think we should learn more and more about how to make a good strategy from Madam. For me, Madam Huda have many kind of experience and knowledge. insyaAllah I will grab this opportunities ^^

ENTRY 4 ( WEEK 3 )

Assalamualaikum ~ as usual, I will share to all of you about my lesson that I have learnt in the 3^rd week lecture. Even its already 3^rd lecture with Miss Ummi, I am still nervous during the lecture because I really worry if Miss ummi come to me and ask question. HUHU, L Alhamdulillah, so far so good :D   okay, forget about it.

This week I have learnt about PESTEL analysis. Last semester, I have learnt about it in subject Creative Thinking And Problem Solving. Even I have learnt before but I am still wondering about it . huhu, how to use it ? when we can use it ? okay, in this lecture, Miss ummi briefly explained about it J.  Besides that, we also discuss about Porter’s five competitive forces.

In tutorial class with Madam Huda, we should find an article or news about business. So, I have found about MAS and AIRASIA. I really worry because madam Huda said that she knew  everything about both of the company. Madam have working experience with Airasia. Luckily, from my group, Madam Huda chose Ain Juraimi to share about her article. She explained and shared about Suprima S. it’s a new knowledge for me because madam huda added some new information about business. After that,we discuss about case  study that given by Miss Ummi in GOALS. So, we must read first before we enter into tutorial class. We need to read ROBIN HOOD CASE for this week. Madam Huda asked us to form into group and make some discussion about the case. Then, Madam Huda shared about an easy way to answer and solve a case. After that, we need to finish it in group and submit it to madam Huda by next week.
